Art+Animation+Music+NFT Bundles syncing in a beautiful way.

Al Goanna released an NFT side project Monday (Pacific Time) called The Lost Goanna. The collection features re-imagined still and animated Al Goanna artwork by a variety of street artists and animators.

The Lost Goanna takes a few pieces up a step or two by incorporating music from Milky Chance, licensed legally via Dequency.

As of this writing they are up for auction on Exa Market.

25% of auction sales to be donated through Wilderness International and The Goanna Tree Fund.

There’s a simple concept here. But there’s a bit to unpack.

Let’s break down the elements:

Al Goanna: Highest volume project by sales volume on the Algorand blockchain. The project has allocated a portion of their sales to The Gilbert Goanna tree fund; reportedly planting nearly 128,000 trees to date.

Milky Chance:
Song: “I am Lost”
Album: Trip Tape II
Released: October 2022 on Muggelig Records

Milky chance is a rock band originating in Kassel, Germany. Active since 2012, their track Down by the River appeared in EA Sports game FIFA 15. They also performed live on both Jimmy Kimmel Live! and the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

Dequency: The “Soundtrack to the metaverse” is a peer-to-peer sync licensing platform that enables music rights holders to mint (create) a license on the Algorand network, and be paid immediately upon sale.

Content producers can purchase sync licenses directly from the music rightsholder’s. Use cases often include NFTs, commercials, and podcasts.

Exa Market: One of the newest marketplaces on the Algorand network. It’s the first peer-to-peer marketplace offering bundles, smart contracts that can hold several NFTs to be sold in a single transaction. Goanna is one of their listed investors.

If you want a rundown of Exa Market, I recently wrote about them here.

Okay Andrew. Cool. Why is this important?

Maybe it is, maybe it isn’t.

I do, however, get really excited when I see different collaborative artforms.

When technology streamlines and enhances those processes, it’s even more exciting.

On a personal level, I’ve been waiting for more projects to use Dequency.

The fact that I, as a content creator can log-in, license music from a stranger with little friction while knowing they are getting a fair share of the proceeds?

That’s a beautiful thing.
